Ecuadorians in Caracas denounce impediments to vote in presidential elections

The Ecuadorian community in Caracas on Friday delivered a letter of protest to the consular authorities of the Government of Lenín Moreno for what they consider impediments to exercise their right to vote in the next presidential elections on February 7.

The protesters denounce that they have not advanced the tasks to guarantee the right to vote of the migrant community of Ecuador in Venezuela, which includes training, information and rental of the necessary premises to carry out the electoral event.

It is about 10.000 registered voters in Venezuela who denounce a delay in the installation of the voting tables and lack of information for the elections.

In this context, the campaign team of candidate Andrés Arauz, related to former President Rafael Correa, had denounced that the National Electoral Council of his country intended to prevent the vote of the Ecuadorian electorate in Venezuela, with excuses such as that there is no way to send the resources necessary to Venezuela.

In Venezuela, however, a third of the Ecuadorian electorate is found abroad in Latin America and is largely correista, according to Arauz's team, for which they consider these are maneuvers to prevent that vote from going to the candidate of the UNES (Union for Hope).

Ecuadorians are summoned to elect a president on February 7 and the formula led by Andrés Arauz goes to the front in the intention to vote among the candidates on the list.
