Venezuela and China negotiate zero tariffs for 400 products

Godoy said that this agreement will facilitate access for Venezuelan products to the Chinese market, thus diversifying exports.

A Venezuelan delegation, led by the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Trade, Coromoto Godoy, participating in the Shanghai 2025 Expo in China, held a meeting with Venezuelan businesspeople gathered to promote the diversification of exports, where they negotiated a "zero tariff" for at least 400 products.

Godoy announced that the meeting allowed for significant progress in the proposal for a partial scope agreement with China, similar to the trade agreement previously signed with Turkey, all under the strategic relationship "tested and all-weather".

He also explained that this new agreement includes approximately 400 Venezuelan tariff products, with the goal of achieving zero tariff negotiations under a mutually beneficial scheme.

“We are working on a proposal to protect our national industry. We will reach a win-win negotiation with zero tariffs for these products,” he stated, adding that he expects this agreement to be established by the first quarter of 2026.

The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Trade also highlighted the strong bilateral relationship between Presidents Nicolás Maduro and Xi Jinping, based on a shared vision of a multipolar world and joint development. “This meeting is an expression of that strategic alliance. Today, 42 Venezuelan companies are representing the country in China at a world-class trade fair.”

For his part, businessman Deivis Graterol stated that the goal is to build a trade bridge that will allow not only the import but also the export of the country's natural resources. "We want to bring products like coffee, cocoa, and beans to the Chinese market—high-quality raw materials for a population with a high purchasing power," he said.

During the fair, Venezuelan entrepreneurs had the opportunity to showcase their products with export potential, in order to build new business opportunities and strengthen trade relations with the Asian nation.

  1. I think the proposal is good; it's time for Venezuela to study new alternatives and make its own decisions for the well-being of our people.

  2. Excellent initiative! Our land has untapped potential. We have other products like mango, strawberry, papaya, banana, plantain, avocado of different varieties, bell pepper, melon… These products, once exported, need to be promoted with different recipes to attract more consumers.
