More than 9.000 containers were cleared through customs in the last month at the port of La Guaira.

Román Maniglia highlighted that it represents an increase of over 34% in customs management

The superintendent of the National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (Seniat), Román Maniglia, reported this Wednesday that 9.200 containers have been nationalized at the port of La Guaira during the last month.

During a working session with representatives of customs administration auxiliaries, he highlighted that this figure represents an increase of more than 34% in customs management.

Furthermore, he stressed that they continue to make progress in boosting economic activity "with the sustained reactivation of the port of La Guaira, as our president Delcy Rodríguez has requested."

"More than 9.000 containers have been cleared through customs in the last month, representing an increase of more than 34 percent in customs management, with the aim of continuing to increase through joint work by all service providers and the inter-institutional team that includes the port, customs and its auxiliaries," he emphasized on his Instagram account.

Maniglia reiterated that they are focused on simplifying processes, democratizing and expanding the participation of customs brokers who meet the required standards and enter into "healthy competition," providing quality services to importers and exporters.

He also explained that La Guaira and Puerto Cabello will be considered as pilot projects for customs modernization, using state-of-the-art equipment and updating the Automated Customs System (Sidunea).

He noted that these measures are part of the institution's new vision, which is geared towards the modernization, digitization and automation of customs processes.
