IDB Invest opens dialogue with the private sector to boost investments

Scriven emphasized that this initial approach seeks to build a work agenda aligned with the national economic reality.

During the National Economic Council meeting, chaired by President Delcy Rodríguez, James Scriven, General Manager of IDB Invest—the private sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group—reaffirmed the financial institution's commitment to supporting the country's productive development through strategic financing for local businesses.

During his participation, the representative of the multilateral entity presented the financial tools available to the national market and reaffirmed the institution's interest in "supporting the country's new economic stage by promoting private investment and sustainable development."

The event was attended by a delegation from IDB Invest, led by its Executive Director, James Scriven, along with executives from the financial and infrastructure sectors, as well as representatives from the bank's regional office. This institutional forum follows up on the reactivation of the IDB Group's office in Caracas, aimed at establishing a joint work agenda for access to technical assistance, financing, and investment in the country.

Scriven detailed the IDB Group's operating model in the region, highlighting the articulation of its three key areas: the IDB focused on management with the public sector, IDB Lab oriented towards innovation and entrepreneurship, and IDB Invest as the strategic ally in charge of structuring and financing projects of private enterprise.

He also emphasized that this initial meeting aims to build a work agenda aligned with the national economic reality. "This meeting has a very clear purpose: it's not just about sharing our capabilities, but also about listening to you and understanding what works for you," he stated before national executive authorities and representatives of various business associations.

This dialogue space lays the foundation for access to international financing mechanisms aimed at strengthening competitiveness, technological innovation and the implementation of business models with high social and economic impact in the country.
