Maduro: 2022 is the beginning of a new era of economic growth

Despite the blockade and unilateral sanctions, Venezuela has sustained economic growth

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed this Wednesday that Venezuela, despite the blockade and unilateral sanctions, has sustained economic growth.

"Venezuela has very good numbers in economic growth, and despite blockades and more than 700 coercive sanctions, Venezuela continues to move forward," said Maduro.

From the Casona Cultura Aquiles Nazoa, during a day of "Productive Wednesday" the Head of State pointed out that 2022 is the year of takeoff, of the beginning of a new era of growth, of the accompaniment of the 18 Productive Engines of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda.

He stressed that 2022 is the first year of expansion and accelerated growth, of wealth creation and of building a new economy. "The post-oil economy has been born and nothing and no one is going to stop it."

In this sense, Maduro argued that the Bolivarian Economic Agenda, with its 18 Productive Engines, constitutes a tool of resistance against the imperial blockade.

For this reason, he called on all sectors of the country to "work, coordination and permanent production."

He reiterated the call for a permanent meeting between Venezuelans. "This is only possible if we all row in the same direction, with the same intensity, with the same strength, rowing in this great ship that we are carrying forward and is called Venezuela."

"My call to the country's business owners, workers, and ministers: Visualize the years to come, 2023, 2024, 2025, with the 3R.Nets 2030 or more," he said.

He directed that the 3R.NETS 2030 Economic Growth Plan must guarantee the productive forces of the country a harmonious growth, sustained for the years to come.

The President directed progress in production, in investments, in the field, to resolve all issues with the Great Agro Venezuela Mission with its 9 vertices.

"With the nine vertices we have taken care of every detail of financing, land, machinery, marketing, fair seed prices, scientific and technical support," he emphasized.

In this regard, the Minister for Agricultural Production and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, announced the balance of the Global Productive Plan in the agri-food sector of Venezuela and highlighted that the progress of national production is 11 million 145 thousand tons of food, of which seven million 800 thousand correspond to the vegetable sector and three million 342 thousand to the animal sector.

Castro Soteldo highlighted that the rainy sowing cycle, in which cereals, such as rice, corn and sorghum, become relevant, it was possible to sow 514 thousand 299 hectares, with a yield of 4 to 4.5 tons per hectare, and with a projection of two million 314 thousand tons of corn, which had not been achieved since 2012 and represents a growth of 17%.

Likewise, "67 thousand hectares of rice were planted in 2022 in Guárico and Portuguesa; there was a growth of 24 to 27%, compared to 2021," said Soteldo.

While coffee reached 223 thousand hectares in Venezuela, between new crops and plantings. The figures increased from 15 quintals in the last five years to more than 25 quintals, Soteldo said.

Regarding exports, the Dignitary pointed out that Venezuela has to consolidate the goal of being a country that has the capacity to be self-sufficient and to export.

He pointed out that the export vocation should focus on placing Venezuelan rice in markets such as Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Russia, China and others.

He also pointed out that work must be done to add "a few thousand more hectares of rice to guarantee rice for Venezuelan households, and also in the short and medium term, 2023, 2024, to build the export vocation."

Similarly, the Executive ordered to strengthen the potential of the Food Mission, the Sovereign Field Fair, the Protein Plan, the Clap, the School Food Plan (PAE).

In this sense, the Minister of Food, Carlos Leal Tellería, pointed out that thanks to the efforts of the National Government, there are mechanisms that guarantee the Venezuelan people's access to food at affordable prices.

On the other hand, the National President said that the producers who have been affected by the passage of heavy rains in the country will have the support of the Executive for their recovery.

"Right now, the rains have caused damage in different parts of the country and all producers have the support of the Bolivarian Government, which I preside over," he said.

Regarding fishing, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, reported that the fishing catch is close to 144 thousand tons. “Thanks to the efforts made by the Venezuelan Government, a good part of this catch is located in the hands of small fishermen and industrial fishing.”

Loyo added that the aquaculture sector through the production of shrimp, was placed as the second export point in the Bolivarian nation, "the second item that is reaching 18 countries in the world, in terms of figures, is the aquaculture sector It has a production of about 25 thousand 870 tons, fundamentally 90 percent worked with the shrimp theme”.

The Minister estimated that it is expected to close at the end of the year around 170 thousand to 180 thousand tons, in this way to strengthen this engine for the Venezuelan economy.
