Structural repairs are being carried out on part of the roof of the Dr. Luis Razetti Hospital Complex in Tucupita with the aim of correcting accumulated leaks that were affecting the facilities.
The Secretary General of the Delta Amacuro State Government, Suyiban Bermúdez, reported that the intervention is in response to the advanced state of deterioration of the slab covering the outpatient modules of the state's healthcare center. The work, carried out by the governor's infrastructure department, began this week and includes the complete removal of the damaged asphalt surface.
According to Bermúdez, the crews are working on sealing cracks, fissures, downpipes and vents using plastic cement, a step prior to the placement of an adhesion primer and the subsequent installation of a new high-resistance asphalt membrane with a UV reflective finish.
The work is expected to be completed within two weeks. However, Bermúdez noted that the final handover and full rehabilitation of the spaces will depend on rainfall in the area, which could cause slight delays.
This work is complemented by previous projects within the hospital grounds, where the rehabilitation of the oncology unit was recently completed —equipped with ten infusion chairs and six hospital beds—, a new air-conditioned waiting room for family members and substantial improvements in lighting and perimeter security.
All these interventions are part of the actions of the so-called José Gregorio Hernández Plan, a line of work coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works and executed in the entity by the Government of the Delta Amacuro state.
