The Great Mission Viva Venezuela Mi Patria Querida carried out a special deployment this Monday at the temporary camp located in the National Educational Unit República del Ecuador, in the San Martín sector of the San Juan parish.
The activity, led by the head of the mission, Tarek William Saab, had as its main objective to provide artistic support and strengthen the identity values of the more than 600 people who are being cared for at this center after the earthquakes that occurred last June, the organization's press release highlights.
“Venezuela has been gradually rebuilding itself… not only in terms of providing Venezuelan families with housing… but also this work, which has a truly supreme value, that the Great Mission Viva Venezuela delivers particularly to children and young people in the temporary camps,” stated the Head of the Great Mission.
During the event, which featured performances by renowned artists such as Francisco Pacheco, Iván Pérez Rossi, Amaranta Pérez, Lisbeth Villalba, Leonardo Vargas, and Ana Cecilia Loyo, activities by traditional artisans, known as "muñequeras" (doll makers), were incorporated for the enjoyment of young people. In his assessment of the progress of national reconstruction and the assistance provided to victims in Caracas, Miranda, La Guaira, and other affected areas, Saab emphasized the importance of cultural work in these communities.
Likewise, the poet Tarek William Saab emphasized that these visits are not isolated acts, but part of a deep commitment to national identity: “This is reconnecting us with the cultural country, because when we are here it is not a simple activity… here we are leaving an important mark and, even in some very particular cases, we have felt very pleased because we have also managed to capture talents in the children who accompany us.”
For his part, Ignacio Barreto, rector of the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE) and a member of the mission's organizing team, emphasized the healing role of the arts in the midst of the crisis. Barreto explained that the effort focuses on the "reconstruction of the souls" of those who suffered the ravages of the natural disaster.
A total of 161 families are receiving care at the temporary camp set up in the UEN República del Ecuador, among which there are 164 children and adolescents.
