The Fourth Court in Control Functions of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the state of Barinas issued a measure of preventive judicial deprivation of liberty to citizen José Francisco Castillo Ramírez for the alleged commission of the crimes of illegal hunting, foreseen and sanctioned in ordinal article 77 3 of Environmental Penal Law in accordance with article 8 of the Wild Fauna Protection Law; illegal possession of a firearm, article 112 of the Law for Disarmament and Ammunition Control; prohibition of doing justice for oneself, article 270 of the Penal Code; and agavillamiento, article 286 of the same legal text.
According to the facts, José Francisco Castillo Ramírez was arrested in a joint operation by the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc), after allegedly killing a jaguar while shooting him with a rifle in Santa Bárbara de Barinas, and displaying the photograph on social networks, which generated a general rejection.
