Police officers in Portuguesa are removed from their posts

They suspect a breach of protocols that affected two teenagers

Following the events recorded in the municipality of San Rafael de Onoto (Portuguesa), where a procedure by the Bolivarian National Police Corps (PNB) involved two teenagers, the authorities implemented the measures in response to citizen complaints.

A report published on the Instagram account of the Los Llanos Strategic Region for Comprehensive Police Development stated that “in response to the alleged violation of police protocols, Chief Commissioner Óscar Pacheco, coordinator of the Portuguesa Police Coordination Center, activated the Office for Response to Police Misconduct, which initiated an investigation against the officers involved. They were subsequently removed from their posts, thus ensuring transparency and objectivity throughout the process.”

As part of the corrective actions, the police force's superiors changed the commander of the municipality of San Rafael de Onoto.

This movement seeks to renew security management in the town and ensure that the actions of officials are aligned with the principles of respect for human rights and the comprehensive protection of citizens, especially children and adolescents, the statement says.

The case was handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the body that will continue with the necessary investigations.
