Officials from the Cicpc, Municipal Delegation El Vigía, solved the murder of Dayana Lorena Duarte Bayona (46), which occurred on August 19th on Avenida 15, Presidente Páez parish, Alberto Adriani municipality, El Vigía, Mérida state, and arrested the person responsible.
The forensic police released details of the gruesome incident through their Instagram account. The report explains that the victim was attacked by Edwin José Gregorio Calderón Peñaranda (39), who had a heated argument with her because she owed him two dollars. Both lived in vulnerable circumstances, so Calderón waited until she was asleep before inflicting multiple stab wounds with a screwdriver, killing her. He then fled the scene.
The arrest of the perpetrator occurred on Avenida 16, Rómulo Betancourt parish, Alberto Adriani municipality, El Vigía, Mérida state, locating the murder weapon and a knife, and placing him at the disposal of the Public Ministry, the report says.
Another homicide committed with a sharp object has been solved by the CICPC (Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigations Corps), according to a post on their Instagram account. This incident occurred in downtown Maracaibo, the capital of Zulia state, where the victim, Ricardo David Zabala Arrieta, was arguing with a 15-year-old nicknamed "El Cole," who stabbed him with a knife.
Ricardo David went on his own to the Chiquinquirá Hospital, located in Maracaibo, where he later died from his injuries.
Following the investigation, the agents arrested the alleged murderer and placed him at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
