A tragic accident has plunged a family in Falcón state into mourning, after a five-year-old boy drowned after accidentally falling into the underground tank of a residence located in the Ezequiel Zamora sector of the Old Airport, Carirubana municipality of the northwestern state, near a well-known church.
According to local media reports, the boy, who was identified as Gregorio Jesús Adrianza, fell into a water tank of some depth.
The children who were with him at the scene immediately alerted authorities to what had happened; however, due to the small size of the tank lid, there were initial difficulties in entering and rescuing him, a task that was finally accomplished by a person of slender build.
The minor was transferred in an emergency and admitted after 6:20 p.m. last Sunday to the Ezequiel Zamora Popular Medical Clinic, where reference witnesses confirmed that he was already without vital signs.
According to reports, at the time of the incident the child was under the care of a relative, as his mother was running personal errands.
