When Judy Buendía decided to make the decision “no more” there was no force, of any kind, that would make her go back.
Her impetus surprised those who thought it was just a separation from her husband at the time. But she made it clear that things were serious. There was no return possible in the broken relationship.
And, so that doubt would not invade even more the unbelievers, he expressed it in the monologue "My ex was a mistake", which he is currently presenting on tour in several cities of the country.
Valencia and Lechería will open, with a presentation that will close this first stage of the tour. "For the last quarter of the year we will present new dates, which we will announce gradually."
Trained mainly in musical theater, Buendía said that when she has been faced with the dilemma of choosing between singing and acting, she has opted to stay in the middle. “I am a very good storyteller and no one is going to change that for me. In my concerts, between songs, I tell a story. Either from the repertoire that I have to perform, or from some personal anecdote. So here I am, I'm being honest. I am fascinated by singing but I like to combine it with stories and humor,” she said, laughing.
In “My Ex Was a Mistake,” the composer also sums up not only part of her personal experience (bitter, by the way) of what her marriage and subsequent divorce was like, but also “I give the audience a guide to the types of exes. So far I have eight different ones… I’m sure that some of the attendees will identify with at least one. Although I have had cases of women who have told me that they have had them all.”
This Stand Up Comedy has a thread made up not only of its own songs, but also of some cover songs. “It is not only an acting job, but also a musical one. It is a catharsis for both people and me. When I wrote it I did it, precisely, as a way not only to drain, but to help those who, by identifying with the text, can learn a lesson. In the end, there is always someone who takes away a lesson.”
This is the second time he has presented it in the country. Seven years ago he brought the original montage. But during this time he not only had to deal with spite, but with other complicated moments. “At this time I became bankrupt. I did everything, even selling avocados and mangoes to buy diapers... Those who saw it in 2017 will find many differences. I am not the same. I'm older, more mature and meaner. But I have also incorporated, into the staging, things that the audience has told me. I made a mix of all that and the result is what I am presenting in this first part of the tour.”
Although she hasn't planned on doing it in the short or medium term, Judy Buendía believes that the option of doing musical theatre will always be in her range of possibilities. "Now that I'm a mother, I have to think differently and pace out my workload. I was born doing musical theatre and I love it... In some way 'Mi ex fue un error' is. The difference is that I'm not accompanied by a great cast, but I'm alone. I don't let go of my musical vein either, because it would mean changing my essence and that's not negotiable."

The not so easy times he had to live made more bearable with music. His album Judy “is the most personal, because it summarizes those days when you believe that chaos is going to win.”
Although he has not stopped singing, composing and recording, Buendía does not have a release date for new material; nor for a concert tour. “On stage, when I'm at a recital, I have to be more formal, because people are going to see me sing. I can't abuse anecdotes, but I can't ignore them either, because it wouldn't be me. That's why I try to separate the singing and acting seasons.”
