Just days after the two-year anniversary of the so-called Battle of the Bridges, the Spanish audiovisual producer Nikone Cons announced the next premiere in Venezuela of his documentary Verses, rhythms and a coup d'état, which narrates what happened on the 22nd, 23rd and February 24, 2019, on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, from the perspective of rapper Pablo Hasel, who today is in prison in Spain, after presenting his point of view on the crown and the institutions of the State in his musical themes and publications in networks.
What is Verses, Rhythms and a Coup about?
—It is a documentary medium-length film that works as a chronicle of Pablo Hasél's trip to Venezuela in February 2019 in the middle of the imperialist attack. Pablo was invited by the Ministry of Culture a week before the event 'Hands Off Venezuela' in the
Colombian-Venezuelan border, on the Tienditas bridge, in response to the media, fraudulent and interfering 'Venezuela Aid Live'. The film collects the moments of tension experienced in said border on February 23 and 24 and subsequent days in Caracas, Pablo reflects on the trip by making an accurate and interesting geopolitical analysis.
—You did it together with Pablo Hasél, why did you decide to address this issue?
—We were filming with Pablo for the recently released documentary Hasél - Poeta Prosierto, when the invitation of Minister Villegas arrived, he did not hesitate for a moment since his internationalist and anti-imperialist commitment is total; He accepted in solidarity (without any remuneration) the only condition he put was that we could accompany him (Felipe Vargas Welch -director of photography- and I) to record the whole experience with the intention of including him in the documentary. In other words, we decided to address this issue because a unique and historic opportunity was presented, then in the editing phase we decided not to include material from Venezuela in Poeta Prosierto and make a separate piece since the amount of material and the relevance of this merited a deal.
preferential.
—When will the official premiere of the audiovisual?
- We think that the ideal would be for it to be released in Venezuela on a date close to the Battle of the Bridges, finally it could not be since we were working very hard to be able to premiere the documentary on Pablo's case before his imprisonment, which is carried out on February 16, with the intention of giving him more visibility and denouncing the criminal injustice he is suffering, all our efforts were focused on finishing this work; Due to this, we had to postpone the premiere of Verses, Rhythms and a Coup, although we hope to announce the date soon.
