The Venezuelan artist Germaine Colmenares, 19, releases new single You miss it, which marks her debut as a singer-songwriter. He video, directed by Poe Polanco, already has 10 million views on its YouTube channel.

What is "You miss it" about?

The promotional single is a song I wrote for female empowerment. I want that when women listen to it they can love each other, feel beautiful and know what they are worth. Many of these women must remove that toxic and bad person from their lives. There are times when it is difficult for us to admit that there is a problem with someone we love, simply because you have so many affections that blind you.

Do you identify with the topic you wrote?

Can be. But from a very young age they instilled in me many values and having a lot of self-love. So I don't tolerate being treated that way, I love myself. You must first love yourself, then demand and give love. So I want girls and women who want to hear the song to feel powerful and know that they are beautiful.

How many songs do you carry

At 11 years old I recorded my first record production, which featured 11 singles. Three of them were written by my mother, Germaine Colmenares, who is also my manager and general producer.

New presentations?

Right now I am focused on the recording studio. I want to continue releasing new music for my people, to continue listening to different rhythms and to deliver quality work. At the beginning of August I will launch a song by myself that will be called My DM, it is a love story that grows by messages between two people through social networks.

Do you have a defined musical genre?

(Laughter) That question is very difficult because I have been through many genres. I have felt comfortable in each one, because they are different, and they want to transmit different things and I like that. For example, when I was 9 years old I sang rancheras, and I had the privilege of interpreting a song with the Mexican artist Vicente Fernández, titled El hijo del pueblo. But as of right now I am dedicating myself more than anything to the urban genre, but I still do several mergers.

Would you like to do something other than music?

I consider myself very versatile and I would love to dabble in acting, also in modeling. Although being on the big screen is like one of my biggest dreams. So it may be possible, but I will always choose the music.

What sets you apart from other artists?

The fusion. I love a lot of genres, and I think I will continue to demonstrate those things, always giving my best. I have many fans who like what I do, and that makes me happy, because I know that although there are always things to improve, I also show quality and I always want to be a complete artist. Obviously, there are people who have told me to focus on just one genre, but I can't (laughs).

What artists do you have as a reference?

Icons for me, that I have always heard are Selena Quintanilla, Simón Díaz and Nacho. The young artist added that she will continue working on the promotion of You Miss You, while preparing new material to launch through her social networks and on her YouTube channel, where she registers as “Germaine”.
