The Ibero-American Design Biennial exhibition in Caracas-Venezuela at the IDB and 2018 selection opened its doors in the capital to bring a space for reflection to the culture of design. The sample will take place in the spaces of the Hacienda La Trinidad.
The curator of the traveling exhibition, which will also host a selection of BID18 awards and mentions, will be the IDB's industrial designer and advisor for Venezuela, Ignacio Urbina Polo, with the collaboration of Álvaro Sotillo.
The exhibition will be organized by the Fundación Diseño Madrid, with the support of the Cultural Office of the Spanish Embassy in Venezuela.
This exhibition features the works of Venezuelan designers who participated in the 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions.
Urbina explained that this new edition will bring together 46 Venezuelan designers, who will participate with their projects in 11 categories, including: Graphic, Digital, Social and Industrial Design.
"All participants are selected by an international jury. The works should propose a country image that allows us to see potential sensitive areas of high relevance, relevance and little visited by design, "said the IDB adviser18.
He highlighted the increase in participation for this edition, with crafts and design, with the use of "high-tech products".
The Hacienda spaces will be venues for talks, workshops, presentation of portfolios and meetings. Urbina considers that this sample is important for Venezuelans "because design can build a country," he said.
The exhibition is free. The place: Hacienda La Trinidad Cultural Park. Hacienda y Secadero 3 House, Baruta
