Venezuelan Scarlet Gruber has begun filming the Mexican telenovela 'Todavía te amo', in which she returns as the protagonist after standing out as a villain in the melodrama 'Doménica Montero' (2025).
Produced by Venezuelan Carlos Bardasano, the drama is a remake of the Peruvian melodrama 'María Emilia, querida', originally by Delia Fiallo and starring Venezuelan Coraima Torres and Argentine Juan Soler.
“It’s a beautiful love story that is also different; it doesn’t stay within the same traditional love story of a melodrama,” Scarlet Grubet said a few days ago at the so-called “claquetazo” of the production, as reported by People en Español.
«A roller coaster "You don't want to get off this ride."
“This story starts with a lot of spark, with a game, with this teenage love that we feel like butterflies; it is a love story that is a rollercoaster of emotions that you don’t want to get off,” added the daughter of Gabriel Fernández (El Chamo Gabriel) and Astrid Gruber.
In this remake, Scarlet's character retains the name María Emilia, a young woman born into luxury and comfort. After the loss of her parents, her family is left destitute, forcing her to move to a humble tenement.
"She has to start from scratch, provide for her family. She's a strong-willed woman, with a lot of character, who faces life head-on, who wants to see her family fulfilled and sacrifices a lot," said the actress, whose leading man is Mexican actor Brandon Peniche, with whom she played a partner in 'Doménica Montero'.
Susana González, Gabriel Soto, Samadhi Zendejas, Alex Perea, Azela Robinson, Felicia Mercado, Eugenio Siller, Graco Sendel, Carina Rico and Julia Urbini, among others, complete the cast of the telenovela.
In 2027,
The telenovela, whose story unfolds in Mexico City, will consist of 60 episodes. It is expected to premiere during the first quarter of 2027, first on the streaming platform ViX and then on the Las Estrellas channel (Televisa) and Univision.
Scarlet Gruber (Caracas, February 10, 1989) has stood out in series and melodramas such as 'Tierra de reyes', 'Médicos, línea de vida', 'Contra las cuerdas', 'Gloria Trevi: Ellas soy yo', 'El precio de amarte', 'Mujeres asesinas' and 'El mochaorejas', among others.
"There are stories that come into your life at the perfect moment... and this is one of them. Today a new chapter begins, one that excites me, challenges me, and reminds me why I love telling stories so much. Thank you to everyone who makes dreams come true. I'm ready to bring María Emilia to life," the actress shared on Instagram.
