With the aim of leaving an indelible mark on Venezuela's culinary history, the world's largest shawarma was prepared Tuesday night in the northern part of the Valencia municipality.
The Middle Eastern dish measured 61,12 meters, 10 meters longer than the current Guinness World Record, which was 51 meters.
The preparation, which lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes, used 300 kilograms of protein and weighed more than 200 kilograms.
Assad Masud, event organizer and owner of Shawarma Assad Tucacas, thanked the regional government, private companies, the state's police forces, workers, and residents for their support of the event.
He emphasized that around 20 people participated in the preparation of the shawarma, and more than 150 diners enjoyed the gastronomic dish.
The feat was performed in memory of his brother.
The shawarma is expected to achieve Guinness World Records certification.
"This shawarma stands out not only for its large size, but also for its warmth and exquisiteness," he said.
The gastronomic dish was distributed free of charge to event attendees.
Last year, organizers broke the record for preparing the largest shawarma in Latin America, measuring 10 meters.
