The Fourth Valencia Independent Film Festival 2026 opened its call for audiovisual creators from across the country this Tuesday.

Nathaly Bustamante, the sole cultural authority in Carabobo, announced that Mexico will be honored at this event for its great contribution to Latin American cinema.

He highlighted that the edition is expected to have the participation of more than 300 independent producers with the intention of making the film event a state-level event with sub-venues in several municipalities of Carabobo.

"To date, at least 150 participants have registered, and we expect around 300 this year," he stated.

Bustamante stated that the registration process will extend until September 15th.

“The importance of participating in this program is that it will not only provide a main venue for showcasing all the work of our audiovisual creators from Carabobo, but will also allow us to project their work in different spaces throughout the state of Carabobo,” he emphasized.

Nominations

Filmmaker Daniel Siugza explained that the nominations include feature film, documentary feature, short film, documentary short, animation, music video and film challenge.

He indicated that this year they added an audience award category. “We are evaluating the wide variety of film genres being submitted. We have short fiction films, but there are also dramas, horror, thrillers, action films, so we want to give recognition to each film genre,” he explained.
