From this Friday, August 28th until next Wednesday, September 2nd, vehicular traffic will be restricted on the La Cabrera Viaduct, specifically at kilometer 123+000 of the Central Regional Highway (ARC), Caracas-Valencia direction, Diego Ibarra municipality.
The president of the Carabobo State Road Institute (Invialca), Wuillder Palermo, reported that the deployment is being carried out to address a failure in the pavement slab of the slow lane of the viaduct, after a subsidence was registered in a fragment of the deck due to continuous wear from the constant passage of heavy cargo transport.
“This concentrated load weakens the internal steel and generates fatigue in the concrete deck, causing the slab to fracture,” he asserted.
Palermo indicated that the team consists of 15 specialists, who carry out the removal of the deteriorated material and the subsequent pouring of the concrete.
“The curing period has already begun so that the mixture sets correctly and the chemical hardening process reaches the required strength,” he commented.
In that regard, Palermo called on users passing through the area to proceed with maximum caution.
