As part of the risk mitigation plan, the mayor of the Guanta municipality in Anzoátegui, Natali Bello, and Civil Protection officials remain active this Friday monitoring the La Culebra stream due to the rains recorded in recent days.
Bello stressed that they remain under supervision of the more than 5 kilometers of the channel that crosses all of Guanta, and that within the framework of the preventive plan, weeding and removal of debris and waste was carried out.
The local president recalled that this channel, which begins in La Sirena and flows into the Caribbean Sea, has a direct impact on more than 20 residents of the La Sirena, Víctor Bowell, Aldea Maracapana and Francisco de Miranda communes, constituted in the parishes Guanta and Chorrerón.
Regarding the growth registered in the afternoon hours of this Friday, Bello said that it was the product of the obstruction generated by tree trunks that fell near the mouth, for which maneuvers were made with a vehicle with a pitman arm to clear the packed canal. .
He commented that the entire early warning system is activated, installed along the riverbed to guarantee the monitoring of the torrent of water during rainfall.
He assured that the water levels are still at normal levels, below two meters and that its overflow level is 3.5 meters.
He exhorted the people of Guantánamo not to throw waste into the riverbed, to avoid obstructions during the rainy season.
