Today's weather and Civil Protection reports indicate that the Orinoco River is maintaining a constant upward trend of approximately five centimeters per day, due to recent rains in the states of Anzoátegui, Bolívar, Amazonas and Delta Amacuro.

Anzoategui. The water level continues to rise in this region, surpassing the records of the historic flood of 2018. This Thursday, June 11, the water level in Ciudad Orinoco reached 12,35 meters above sea level (masl), representing an increase of 14 centimeters in just 24 hours.

Mayor Hernán Rodríguez said that the current measurement exceeds the records from 2018 for this same date, so the authorities are maintaining constant monitoring of the river.

He specified that 14 communities settled along the riverbanks are under threat. “These are transhumant populations who, at this time of year, move preventively to higher ground to protect their families, belongings, and animals,” he explained.

The first areas in Ciudad Orinoco that would be affected are El Ferry and La Encaramada. The mayor warned that the river's behavior is unpredictable between July and August, months in which it historically experiences its highest flood levels.

He said that in response to the emergency, the Citizen Security, Civil Protection and Fire Department teams of Ciudad Orinoco remain deployed in vulnerable areas to ensure the safety of the population.

AmazonThe Orinoco River level at the height of Amazonas state is at 50,12 meters above sea level, and the green alert level is 50,50 meters.

Since the end of May, flooding has been occurring in the Upper Orinoco, leading to the evacuation of 400 families in La Esmeralda, who have received assistance. The most affected are from the Yanomami and Yekuana communities.

BolívarThe Hydrometric Station of Ciudad Bolívar indicates that the Orinoco River reached a level of 12,26 meters above sea level, which represents 5 cm above the level recorded on the 10th.

Despite the daily increase, the situation in the capital of Bolívar state remains completely normal and far from the margins of concern, according to the report from the Hydrometric Station.

Delta amacuroThe Orinoco River level in Delta Amacuro remains below the green alert threshold, reported the Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis Operational Zone. On June 10, it registered 3,91 meters above sea level, while the alert level is 6,50 meters above sea level, indicating no imminent risk of flooding.
